Alarm Clock… cont’d

Filed under: Rants -- Enter if you dare. — Hillary at 9:10 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2005

So I had finally found my alarm clock, apparently in an attempt to escape my death grip or a shove by the kitty (AKA: Garfield style) my alarm clock ended up jammed between the mattress and the frame and underneath a pillow. Now how it got there I’m not sure but I’m positive it was by no fault of my own *ahem*. At any rate… its still ticking away and I know its just waiting for its chance to disappear on me again….

Alarm clocks and Thursdays…

Filed under: Rants -- Enter if you dare. — Hillary at 5:15 pm on Friday, April 29, 2005

They are completely unreliable! I mean… my cat does a better job of waking me!

So here I am… awake before dawn and got the munchkin off to school and then went back to sleep because I planned at being at work around 10. I took one last look at the alarm clock before I fell back to sleep… and 4 hours later…. AT 11:00 I woke up and my alarm clock had mysteriously disappeared! :-) Now we all know what happened, my alarm clock… thinking it would get the best of me… sprouted legs and took off for Jamaica while I slumbered unknowingly in my cozy bed.

Well after a few choice profanities directed at the missing alarm… and a lot of dizzy disorientation… I realized that my alarm clock could not have possibly sprouted legs and ran off (R-U-N-N-O-F-T)… something sinister must have taken place between the time I fell peacefully asleep and when I woke up at 11. And it must have been before 9am otherwise I would have heard it go off…

As I tried to piece together the horror that must have befallen my alarm clock… I pondered about all the times it had lied to me and told me it would wake me and then didnt… only to go off in the PM instead of AM… or on Monday instead of Saturday… I realized how untrustworthy this alarm is… which brought me to becoming angry at my husband for loving the thing so much. Even in it’s duck taped state…. yes my alarm clock is duck taped… I didnt recall why. But my husband tells me I threw it one day and it broke open. Funny how I dont remember that incident….

Much to my alarm’s chagrin I could NEVER figure out how to set the dam* thing. It blatently defied my every try. And NOW! Here it was missing all together!

Where could it have gone?

Well lately I’ve taken to coddling it after if goes off the first time, I suppose I think it will coax it into not going off again. Then my cat gets jealous and begins batting me in the face and meowing at me, and then on to progressively more torturous methods of getting me to get my as5 out of bed and get him some milk… knowing I must be awake because I grabbed the methodically bleeping alarm off the nightstand and was holding onto it as if it could make me float out at sea. So usually, I either A) Roll my as5 out of bed or B) Push Ginko (cat) off the bed and attempt to hide under the covers. Neither of which is very comfortable. Because either my feet hit the cold hard floor of my bedroom or the cat attempts to hunt me out from under the covers while meowing very loudly.

Well… back to the case at hand… maybe the cat stole the alarm out of jealousy. He has been known to get extremely jealous of our dog and assorted other things around the house, mainly the computer. Could he have carted it off? Well certainly being 14 pounds I’m sure he probably could have found a way… especially since he’s a lot crankier than I am when he’s woken up….
But probably not because he’s so dam* lazy….

Where is that dam* alarm?!?

I searched the bed high and low… no alarm… I searched the room quickly as I made my way to throw on some clothes and email my boss about how late I’d be. *whew* boy did I need to shower… I looked like the Bride of Frankenstein. So I forgot about the missing alarm while I re-brushed my teeth, took a hot shower and found some nice clean clothes to wear. The I looked at the clock on the microwave… man was I late… “dam* alarm!” “Dam* broken duct-taped loud annoying ugly hard-to-read too difficult to set alarm clock”…

And I left for work.

I wish I could afford to take off work to go this year… but it’s either the conference or a vacation at a Chalet with my in-laws. I know… tough decisions… LOL. Seeing as how lonely my hubby would be if I went to the conference alone, or if he came along… plus that the vaca is free… I chose the vacation. I know… sell-out right? I’ll miss you all and I hope you have a great time! I’m planning on doing whatever it takes to be at all of them in 2006. Who knows… I might even present!

End of the semester…

Making Dinner… and date night….

Filed under: Home Life... and Being a Wifey — Hillary at 4:26 pm on Friday, April 29, 2005

I thought last night it would be a good idea to make dinner tonight (date night) seeing as how I was “taking the day off” and what a crummy day to take off it was in the 50’s and rainy all day… plus the munchin had off school, so I spent all day with him. Now it’s time to make dinner… and it ain’t happenin! I’d rather pay $50 at the movie theater than cook right now. Ugh…. I’d better get dressed… Atleast I’ve freshly showered and I’ll look super hot for the movie… LOL! We’re off to see “Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”… maybe now he’ll stop talking about it every 3 seconds… (doubtful!). Can you believe he actually wanted to wear his pajamas and a robe to the movie theater???!?!?! Uh…ha…ha…ha… I dont think so! I told him he could bring them along and if anyone else is wearing them… he can go change. See…we can compromise… :-p I’ll post how it was later. -ME

Working Weekends

Filed under: Work — Hillary at 4:21 pm on Friday, April 29, 2005

It’s been really hard waking up at 6am on Saturday and Sunday… hopefully, I’ll get used to it sooner than later. I’ve spent all week deciding on what hours I’ll be able to work at what job for the summer. It seems that every two weeks my schedule is going to change drastically. I really enjoy being with the guys at their house on the weekend… if only it didnt start so early and end so late. *sigh*

NEOPETS!

Filed under: Interesting Tidbits to Liven Up the Day — Hillary at 8:34 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2005

So everyone has probably heard of Neopets by now. This past year, they’ve taken the world by storm with games, cards, toys, everything imaginable it seems. Well, I’d like to say I miss the old way when no one knew what a Quiggle or a Kougra was but I do kinda enjoy it. I started playing neopets 51 months ago (roughly 4 years and 3 months ago) in college and I’ve never stopped. Sh… Paul is an addict to and his account name is pacoeltaco! Some might call it an addiction… but its just plain fun. I currently have 3 pets, a Quiggle named PiratePaul, an Ixi named LilDevil, and a Kougra named Arghra. I even set up an account for my real live pets, Ginko and Midas, obviously they dont play by themselves but I tried to create pets that look like them and buy them things with “neopoints” that they might enjoy. It takes the edge off reality, where I can’t afford a whole house just for them. ;-) Go ahead, check it out, sign up, neomail me, its free and if you use my link I get credit for referring you… which translates into a free toy for my neopets, which they are always grateful for!

Rain

Filed under: Home Life... and Being a Wifey, Stuff — Hillary at 8:26 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2005

Things are turning green! YAY! I like the nice warm rain and the smell of new growth. We went for ice cream at 3Bs tonight. Yum. I made Thai Beef Vegetable Soup with 7-Cheese Gumbo wrapped shells for dinner. It was incredible, but now my tummy is not so sure… I’m not used to eating very spicy things… but I thought it would clear my stuffed sinuses. I was wrong. :-( We watched the second Bridgette Jones’ Diary movie last night and I was sobbing it was so good. We also rented Vanity Fair with Reese Witherspoon which was really really good.

Pet Vet Visit

Filed under: Home Life... and Being a Wifey — Hillary at 2:07 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2005

Wow! My first vet visit with Ginko and Midas. It went rather well I thought. They are the best! Midas was timid, as always, and Ginko was ornery, as always, and all is well. Since the vet made a house call, they both dont seem at all traumatized, well except for Ginko yelling at the van through the window afterwards… lol. I’m sure it would have been 500 times worse if I had taken him to the vet in the car and sat in a waiting room. I’m so happy :-)! *sigh of relief* Ginko didnt scratch or bite at all *phew*… he just yelled at him when he got his shots. I can thank my mother in law for time and money well spent!

AVS - Weekend Bonus

Filed under: Work — Hillary at 3:22 pm on Monday, April 4, 2005

This past weekend I started my *new* fulltime job, AVS Weekend Bonus House Manager Aide. Surprisingly, I’m not as tired as I thought I’d be. Especially, since Day Light Savings Time and all that crap. I work from 7am to 11pm Sat and Sun. So I got home at 11:30pm and had to turn the clocks to 12:30am and by the time I fell asleep it was 1:30am and I had to be back at work by 7am. Joy of joys…. but it’s not that bad. I enjoyed it alot, rain, hail, flooding, electricity failures and all. :-) We made chocolate chip cookies… and that makes everything ok. :-)
